The art-savvy owners of this turn-of-the-century Brooklyn townhouse sought bold, modern and contemporary artwork to act as a dynamic contrast to the fine architectural details of their home. In the library (formerly the parlor), Sightline placed an engraved self-portrait from 2009 by Chuck Close, two colorful, silkscreen paintings from the 1980s by Andy Warhol, and a series of abstract, geometric paintings from the 1960s by the father of one of the owners. The clients' preference for openness and spare decor allows these recent art acquisitions and the home's original structural elements to co-exist with dramatic effect.
